Mae Applegate - Middle School English

Mae Applegate graduated from the University of Maine in Orono with a B.A. in University Studies and a Masters of Arts in Teaching. Before teaching at the Vinalhaven School, she taught at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield and Foxcroft Academy in Dover Foxcroft. In her free time she enjoys baking, cooking, reading, writing, drawing, sewing and spending time with her three children and husband.


Emily Cohn - Science/ Social Studies

Emily Cohn graduated from Antioch University with a Masters in Education, with a concentration in Science and Environmental Education. Before teaching here on Vinalhaven, she was an environmental educator for many years working along the coast in Rhode Island and Maine. She was also an Americorps member in Chicago after going to college there.   In her free time, she enjoys hiking on the trails around Vinalhaven, watching great movies, and swimming


Chris DiSalvatore - Middle School Math

Chris DiSalvatore has a B.A. in English from the University of Maine at Orono, a B.S. in Education from The University of Maine at Farmington, and a M.Ed. in Education Administration from New England College in Henniker, NH. Chris had been a middle school teacher for nineteen (19) years, and in that time he has been a soccer, basketball, and baseball coach. Chris has directed theater for elementary school, middle school, and high school musical productions as well as one-act competitions. Chris is a soccer official for the Eastern Maine Board of Soccer Officials and a baseball umpire for the Eastern Maine Baseball Umpires Association. Chris has been a camp counselor for Pilgrim Lodge for the last ten (10) years and an advisor for the Executive Committee of the Maine State Youth Council, Maine Conference U.C.C. Chris is currently a Trustee of Hammond Street Congregational Church U.C.C. in Bangor, Maine and has recently been named to the Outdoor Ministries Committee of the Maine Conference U.C.C. Finally, Chris is the proud father of two sons. Elijah, 22, who attends the University of Maine at Orono (UMO), and Ben, 19, who is an Eagle Scout, and is a sophomore at UMO.
